Apple released macOS Golden Gate 27.2 on October 26. Siri AI adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, keeps context between requests, and Messages gets Suggestions. Sequoia 15.8.2 and Tahoe 26.7.2 shipped the same day for older Macs. iOS 27.2 has not shipped yet.

Apple released macOS Golden Gate 27.2 on Monday, October 26. It’s the first big update to macOS 27 since September. Get it in System Settings, under General, then Software Update. MacRumors and 9to5Mac both covered the release; the build is 26B123, according to 9to5Mac.

What changed

  • Siri AI in five more languages. French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish join English. This is the same expansion the iOS 27.2 release candidate carries.
  • Siri remembers. Apple’s release notes, as quoted by MacRumors, say Siri AI can now “retain useful context from previous Siri interactions” and draw on more of your personal context.
  • Suggestions in Messages. A conversation can turn into a quick action in Calendar or Reminders.
  • Touch gestures in Apple’s own apps. 9to5Mac reports new gesture recognition in several built-in apps. MacRumors found touch gesture code in Safari, Notes, Photos and Quick Look during the beta.
  • Smaller fixes. New brightness and volume sliders, a black-and-white Apple Music icon, and a fix for Electron app windows that stopped responding to drags during the beta, per 9to5Mac.

Apple also shipped macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 the same morning. During testing Apple described both as “important security fixes.” Apple had not posted the security notes for any of the three updates when they went out.

Confirmed vs. reported

Confirmed by Apple: the release, the five languages, Siri context and Messages Suggestions, from its release notes. Reported and unconfirmed: that the gesture code exists for a touchscreen MacBook Pro. Bloomberg expects Apple to show one on Wednesday, October 28. iOS 27.2 for iPhone has not shipped. 9to5Mac expected it this week.

What it means

Update now if your team runs Siri in one of the new languages, or if you’re still on Sequoia or Tahoe. The 15.8.2 and 26.7.2 patches are the reason to update those Macs today. For a company fleet, give 27.2 a few days on one or two machines first. The window-drag bug in the beta hit Electron apps, and Slack and VS Code are both built on Electron. Those are the apps a remote team lives in.

The touch code is a hint about Wednesday. It changes nothing on a Mac you own today. If you’re deciding whether to wait for a touchscreen MacBook Pro, the price and OLED Air report covers what the extra screen is expected to cost. If your Mac spends the day on a desk, Enzo’s guides to the best monitor for a MacBook Pro and setting up two monitors with a MacBook matter more than the lid screen.
