Most of my day is calls, so a microphone gets judged on one thing first, which is how I sound to the person on the other side. I test at desk distance and above the monitor, through a hub and straight into the Mac, over months of client calls and cold calls. Scores separate how a mic sounds up close from how it sounds where you actually mount it.
