Samsung now sells the Galaxy SmartTag 3 in the US: $29.99 for one tag on Samsung.com, and $99 for a four-pack according to 9to5Google. It comes in black and white, is rated for 550 days of battery and IP67, and drops the built-in loop. It works on Samsung's Galaxy Find network, so owners of non-Samsung Android phones should look at Find Hub tags instead.
If you carry a Samsung Galaxy phone and want a tracker for your keys or laptop bag, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is now on sale in the US. Samsung’s US store lists it at $29.99 for one tag, model EI-T5900, with a four-pack option. If you use a Pixel, Motorola or other non-Samsung Android phone, skip it: the tag runs on Samsung’s own finding network.
What you get for the price
9to5Google reports the tag went on sale online on November 6 in black and white, with a four-pack of two of each color at $99. That works out to $24.75 per tag. Samsung’s page shows the four-pack option but no price in the text we could read, so treat $99 as the outlet’s figure until Samsung’s listing confirms it.
Per 9to5Google, the SmartTag 3:
- Is rated for 550 days of battery.
- Is rated IP67 for water and dust.
- Drops the built-in loop of earlier SmartTags for a smaller, more uniform shape, so you need a holder or case to hang it on keys.
- Supports leave-behind alerts, location history and routines that trigger when you tap it.
Samsung announced the tag in October and sold it first in South Korea. The only US seller named so far is Samsung.com.
Who it works with
9to5Google says the SmartTag 3 uses Samsung’s Galaxy Find network. It does not join Google’s larger Find Hub network. That makes it a Galaxy-phone accessory. The outlet adds that Samsung’s iOS app gives iPhone owners basic connectivity, without detailing what that covers. Samsung has not spelled that out on its US page, so an iPhone owner should still buy an AirTag.
Pick the tag that matches your phone
Tracker networks follow the phone in your pocket, and switching phones later can strand the tag. For a Samsung Galaxy owner, the SmartTag 3 at $29.99 is the tag built for your network. For any other Android phone, a tag built for Google’s Find Hub is the safer buy, and Find Hub just added its own left-behind alerts for Chipolo tags and the Moto Tag. Mixed-phone teams that hand out trackers with laptops or gear should standardize on one network per phone platform.
