Logitech sells the MX Master 4 Special Edition in a developer-themed finish for $119.99 in the US, the same price as the standard Graphite model. The hardware is unchanged: 8,000 DPI sensor, MagSpeed wheel, haptic panel. Logitech calls it a limited drop.
If you want an MX Master 4 and like the developer-themed finish, buy it: it costs $119.99 on Logitech’s US store, the same as the standard Graphite model, and the mouse inside is identical. If you don’t care about the look, nothing here is a reason to choose it over the regular version or to replace an MX Master 4 you already own.
What Logitech is selling
Logitech’s US store lists the MX Master 4 Special Edition in a Developer color at $119.99, in stock with free shipping and 30-day free returns as of November 1. The standard MX Master 4 in Graphite is also $119.99. Logitech presents the edition as a limited drop.
The finish is light gray and silver with a dark gray palm rest and bright green accents. HotHardware reports Easter eggs including “//Special Edition” on the right button and “Hello, World!” on the thumb rest. Notebookcheck says Logitech calls it the first special edition in the MX series’ more than 20-year history.
The hardware matches the regular MX Master 4, according to Logitech’s product page: an 8,000 DPI sensor that tracks on glass at least 4 mm thick, the MagSpeed wheel at up to 1,000 lines per second, and the Haptic Sense Panel you tune in Logi Options+. Native haptics work on Windows 11 updates from the end of March 2026 onward. Logi Options+ runs on Windows and macOS.
The AI plugin is a China launch detail so far
At its Creative Day event in Shanghai on October 30 and 31, Logitech launched the same mouse in China as the MX Master 4 Developer Edition at 999 yuan, according to Notebookcheck. That version comes with a Logi Options+ plugin that maps mouse shortcuts to Tencent WorkBuddy features such as meeting summaries, real-time translation and document generation, plus 500 WorkBuddy points. Logitech has not said whether that plugin or the points come to other markets, and the US product page doesn’t mention it. Don’t buy the US model expecting it.
A $0 premium makes this a color choice
Limited editions usually cost more. This one doesn’t, so the decision is only about the finish. Two things to weigh: a themed surface with printed code references may show wear or look dated sooner than plain Graphite, and Logitech’s limited-edition wording means replacement parts or a warranty swap in the same color may not be available later. Check the warranty answer in the FAQ on Logitech’s page before you buy if that matters to you.
I haven’t tested the MX Master 4. If you’re rebuilding your desk setup, start with how to choose a keyboard and pick the mouse that matches it.
