Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude on November 5, a US beta on the Pro, Max and Ultra plans. You link bank and card accounts through Plaid, and Claude can see balances and up to two years of transactions to track spending, bills and subscriptions. Access is read-only, and hub chats are not used for training.

Claude can now look at your actual money. Anthropic announced Personal Finance in Claude on November 5. It is rolling out in beta this week on the Pro, Max and Ultra plans in the US. You link bank and card accounts, then ask questions in plain language about spending, bills and subscriptions. If you already pay for Claude and want a second pair of eyes on recurring charges, it costs nothing extra to try. Start with one card, not every account.

What it does

You sign in to your bank yourself through Plaid, and Claude never sees the bank password, according to Anthropic. Once linked, Claude can see the bank name, account name and type, the last four digits, balances, credit limits and up to two years of transactions.

From there, according to MacRumors, Android Authority and Engadget:

  • Spending by category, upcoming bills and unusual purchases.
  • Unexpected fees, rising bills, duplicate charges and subscriptions that crept up in price.
  • Charts, calendars, dashboards and budget breakdowns, plus plain explanations of terms such as APR.

The data lives in a Personal Finance hub with its own entry in the sidebar. Anthropic has not said which apps support it.

What it can’t do

Access is read-only: Anthropic says Personal Finance “can’t move, manage, or invest your money.” It is not built to give investment advice, according to Engadget, and Anthropic says it is exploring how Claude could work alongside licensed professionals. Engadget also reports no ads, no sponsored recommendations and no Anthropic credit cards, loans or savings accounts. Android Authority notes Anthropic’s own warning that Claude can make mistakes, so check any figure before you act on it.

Privacy: the hub is walled off, the rest of Claude is not

Chats inside the Personal Finance hub are not used for model training, Anthropic says, and MacRumors reports they are not added to Claude’s shared memory. Outside the hub, your normal privacy settings apply, according to Engadget. So ask money questions inside the hub, not in a regular chat. You can unlink an account at any time, and Claude can no longer see its data.

Who should turn it on

For a founder who runs personal and side-project spending on a few cards, the subscription audit is the useful part: duplicate SaaS seats and quiet price increases are easy to miss across two years of statements. It is a beta that reads sensitive data, though. Link a credit card first, check what it finds against your statement, and only then add checking accounts.

Anthropic keeps giving Claude more of your context. Claude Duet, the proactive agent, already blocks card numbers and lets financial details out only when you tell it to. Plan limits matter too: if you are deciding between tiers, see what changed with Claude Ultra’s limits. ChatGPT has taken the same path with iCloud Mail and Calendar access. Keep the same habit with all of them: connect the least you need, and unlink what you stop using.
